The Akaric Lexicon
An index of spiritual states and beings. Akari draws language from Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, mysticism, psychology and its own framework — this index keeps identity, state, alignment and degree of realization from being mistaken for one another.
Akari does not classify people by religion. It classifies spiritual orientation and embodiment. A Christian may be Akari or deeply misaligned. A Buddhist may be Akari without being a Buddha. Someone who has never heard the word Akari may already live Akarically.
Governing Ruling
On Vibration and Frequency
Akari uses the words vibration and frequency. They are metaphor. They describe the orientation of a soul, not a measurement on an instrument.
No one is reading your frequency with a device. No one needs to. The words point at something every person already knows from the inside — that there are states which close a life down and states which open it up, and that you can feel the difference the moment you are honest about it.
So when this site says raise your frequency, it is not physics and it is not asking you to believe in physics. It is saying: change what you are oriented toward. That is all it has ever meant.
Low
States that contract a person and produce suffering
- Fear
- Rage
- Sorrow held long past its season
- Obsession
- Contempt
- Shame
- Craving that never lands
High
States that open a person and produce life
- Love
- Authenticity
- Empathy
- Kindness
- Healing
- Honesty
- Peace
One list makes a person smaller. The other makes them larger. Call that vibration if the word helps you. Call it orientation if it does not. The thing being described does not change.
The Lexicon · Governing Scale
The Akaric Map of Consciousness
Not a measurement. A map of what a state does to a soul — what closes it, what turns it, what opens it.
Charts of this kind circulate everywhere, usually with numbers attached — shame at twenty, enlightenment at a thousand. Akari keeps the map and drops the numbers. Nobody is reading your frequency with a device, and a decimal beside the word *grief* gives a real insight a false body. What the chart is actually pointing at is true, and it does not need to pretend to be physics to be true: there are states that make a person smaller, and states that make a person larger, and you can feel which one you are in the moment you are honest.
So this is ordered by what a state does, not by what it scores. And it is not a ladder you climb once. The Spectrum's ruling stands here too — these are territories, not rungs. A person can pass through four of them before lunch, and the deepest ascents very often start at the very bottom.
THE POWER
States that pour outward
Union
Awareness of the Source, unobstructed — and never a merger with it
Peace
Not the absence of trouble. The absence of war inside
LoveAkaric ruling
Willing the good of another at cost to yourself. The highest thing a soul can do
Joy
Gladness that no longer depends on the circumstance
These are not achievements to be collected. Each one is evidence of a soul oriented past itself — and each one is verifiable by what it produces in other people.
THE OPENING
States that let life back in
Empathy
Another person's interior becomes real to you. The commission Derrek was given
Reason
Discernment — the ability to tell the Light from the thing wearing its clothes
Acceptance
This is what is; I am responsible for what I build from it
Willingness
Available to be changed
Neutrality
No longer needing the outcome
None of these feel spectacular, and all of them are load-bearing. This is where most real spiritual work actually happens — quietly, without a single mystical experience.
THE GATE
Where the mask comes off
AuthenticityAkaric ruling
Being the same person in private as in public. The hinge of the entire map
Courage
The first state that faces something instead of managing it
Two states, and neither is optional. Nothing above this line can be reached while a soul is still performing — which is why Akari puts Authenticity here rather than treating it as a personality trait.
THE WEIGHT
States that contract a person
Pride
The highest of the low states, and the most convincing counterfeit of the high ones
Anger
Real fuel, and a terrible driver
Craving
Wanting that never lands
Fear
The world is coming for me
Grief
Loss, honest — and dangerous only when it is given a permanent address
Apathy
Nothing is worth the effort
Guilt
I did the wrong thing, and it owns me
Shame
I am the wrong thing
Every one of these makes the world smaller and requires a mask to carry in public. None of them is a verdict on a soul — they are weather, and everyone has been in all of them.
Why Authenticity Is the Gate
On the usual chart, authenticity does not appear at all — and its absence is the reason so many people read a chart like this, recognize themselves at the top, and change nothing. A mask can imitate every high state on this map. Pride imitates peace. Performance imitates joy. Sentiment imitates love. Spiritual vocabulary imitates all three at once, fluently, for years.
So Akari places Authenticity at the crossover, beside courage, and rules it the state everything above it depends on. Not because honesty is a virtue people should admire, but for a structural reason: you cannot love from behind a mask, because the mask is what receives the love. A soul that is being someone else has nothing available to give — the thing that would do the giving is not on the field.
And this is why it takes courage to stand beside it. Authenticity is expensive. It costs approval, belonging, income, and sometimes people. The Gate is a real gate, and it is narrow in exactly the way it was described as narrow — most souls arrive at it, see the price, and go back to managing an image. Every ascent in this canon begins the day someone stops pretending.
Love Above Joy — the Ruling
The familiar chart puts Joy above Love, and the reasoning behind that is not stupid. It reads Love as still having an object — *I love this person, this child, this life* — and Joy as what remains when love has become unconditional and no longer needs an object at all. On that logic, Joy is rarer, so Joy sits higher.
Akari rules the other way, and the ruling matters. Rarity is not rank. Love is the root; Joy is the fruit. Joy is what love produces in a soul once love has stopped being transactional — which means Joy is *evidence*, and the thing it is evidence of stands above it. Put a state's fruit above its root and you invite a soul to chase the feeling and skip the act.
And this canon has already settled the question at its source. The whole of Book XXXI turns on a Love that was not joyful. Gethsemane is not a peak state; it is sorrow to the point of death, and love proceeding anyway. The cross is not gladness. If Joy outranked Love, the highest act in this entire history would register as a fall — and Akari is not going to build a map that reads the Ninth Descent as a downgrade.
So the ruling: **Love is the highest thing a soul can *do*, and Joy is what a soul that has done it comes to feel. Love is chosen; Joy is received. Love holds when the feeling is gone, which is the only test of it that has ever meant anything — a love that requires joy in order to continue was never love, it was enjoyment of someone. Above both stands Peace, and above Peace, awareness of the Source: unobstructed, and never a merger with it.**
How to Use This
Do not locate yourself on it and stop. The question this map exists to ask is not "what level am I?" — it is "which direction am I facing right now?" That is the only reading the Light takes.
And no state on the lower half is evidence against you. Fear and shame are the Accuser's tools, and he uses them hardest on souls that have just started walking. If you are turned toward truth, love and repair, the weight you carried up here is not your identity. It is your qualification to help the next person still carrying it.
The Consciousness Spectrum
This is the governing taxonomy of the Lexicon, and it refines every ladder that came before it. Three things had been collapsed into one word and now stand apart: attainment (what has permanently changed in you), state (what you are experiencing now), and integration (how much of it you can actually live inside ordinary life).
And the single most important ruling here: awakening does not guarantee alignment. A person can perceive spiritual reality directly, accumulate real knowledge and real power, and still become manipulative, cruel, narcissistic or domineering. Pneumatic tells us someone is spiritually awake. Akari tells us which direction they chose.
So this is not one permanent ladder. Someone can be pneumatic *and* shadow-dominant — spiritually awakened but poorly integrated — and that combination is a real category, not a contradiction.
Toward Light
Toward Darkness
Spiritual awakening can occur on either side. Pneumatic tells us someone is spiritually awake; Akari tells us which direction they chose.
Not a Ladder
The two rows above are drawn as arrows because a page needs a direction to read in. The Soul does not. These are territories, not rungs. A person can stand in several of them in the same year, the same week, the same hour — awakened in one room, shadow-ruled in the next — and no one is required to pass through them in order, or to pass through them once.
More than that: the deepest ascents very often begin at the lowest point. The Chronicle's own history is built on this — Job in the ashes, David after Bathsheba, Peter after the denial, the prodigal at the trough, Siddhartha's collapse before the Bodhi tree. The bottom is not the opposite of the summit. For many it is the ground the summit is built on, because nothing turns a soul toward the Light as decisively as having seen, without illusion, what the dark actually costs.
So the ruling is this. If you are genuinely turned toward oneness, love, repentance, redemption and growth, your past is not evidence against you. It is the weight you carried to get here, and it may be the very thing that qualifies you to help someone still carrying it. Fear and shame are not signs of holiness; they are the Accuser's tools, and he uses them most on those who have just begun to walk. Look at the past clearly, take what it teaches, make what amends you can — and then do not let it hold the throne. The direction you are facing now is what the Light reads.
Unlocking, Accessing, Living In It
Three different achievements, routinely mistaken for one. A transformation that changed you permanently, a state you can enter, and the ability to remain there while doing ordinary things are not the same accomplishment.
Transformation unlocked
Kundalini or a comparable awakening fundamentally alters you. Once it has, you do not become "unawakened" simply because you are no longer in the peak state. The unlock is permanent even when the state is not.
Entering the state
Periods of extraordinary nonattachment, equanimity, clarity and ego-transcendence. Real, and real even if intermittent — but accessing a state under favourable conditions is not the same as owning it.
Mastering the state
The realization becomes increasingly ordinary and embodied — carried into work, family, conflict and appetite rather than requiring ideal conditions. This is the achievement almost everyone skips when telling their own story.
Complete liberation
Not merely having accessed the state. Liberation concerns whether craving and ignorance still bind consciousness — never whether a particular behaviour did or did not occur for a stretch of time. Abstinence can accompany a path; it does not constitute liberation.
Ordinary human desire does not automatically mean you have fallen out of a state. Ego *functioning* is not ego *identification*.
Toward the Light — the Terms
Primarily identified with material existence: survival, pleasure, possessions, status, appearance, appetite and physical gratification. Consciousness dominated by the material and by what it can acquire.
Spiritually disengaged — neither deliberately dark nor meaningfully pursuing awakening, truth, growth or service.
Conscience, introspection, morality, meaning and awareness beyond purely material existence begin developing. Morally and spiritually receptive; beginning to perceive past matter.
Actively searching for deeper truth, questioning identity, conditioning, God, consciousness, suffering, purpose and the nature of reality.
Spiritually awakened — directly conscious of Spirit or Divine reality. Akari's bridge into early Gnostic Christian anthropology, and deliberately not a synonym for Akari: spiritual awakening by itself does not guarantee Light-alignment.
Awakened to Spirit and having chosen the Light — recognizing it and consciously choosing truth, compassion, courage, self-mastery, right action and service. A pneumatic has awakened to Spirit; an Akari has awakened to Spirit and chosen the Light.
An Akari who has consciously confronted and integrated significant shadow rather than repressing it or allowing it to rule.
An Akari who has undergone a profound transformative or ascension experience that fundamentally changed their consciousness and their relationship with the Divine.
Profound nonattachment, ego-transcendence, equanimity, clarity and liberated awareness — without necessarily having permanently stabilized that realization.
Buddhic consciousness becoming increasingly persistent and embodied rather than existing primarily as a peak spiritual state accessed under favourable conditions.
Consciousness no longer bound by the ignorance, craving, attachment and ego-identification that sustain samsara. An exceptionally high threshold, and one Akari will not infer from mystical experience alone.
Profound realization coupled with the commitment to remain engaged with suffering beings and help others toward awakening and liberation.
Profound Divine alignment expressed through unconditional love, truth, mercy, courage, forgiveness, sacrifice and active service — realization deliberately carried back into the suffering of the world for others.
Sideways to All of It
Kundalini-Awakened
Describes a transformative spiritual and energetic awakening process — a phenomenology, not a spiritual rank. It sits sideways to the whole spectrum and can coexist with any position on it, in either direction. A Hindu kundalini experience does not automatically make someone Akari.
Can an Awakened Person Explore Shadow?
Yes — and Akari teaches this explicitly, because the alternative is repression wearing spiritual clothes. If awakening required permanently suppressing sexuality, anger, ambition, grief, play and aggression, the whole integration framework would collapse.
Can I enter the shadow without surrendering the throne to it?
Sexuality experienced consciously is not automatically attachment.
Anger consciously felt is not automatically hatred.
Enjoyment is not necessarily craving.
Ego functioning is not ego identification.
And the reverse guard, because calling something "shadow integration" does not make every indulgence spiritually harmless. The shadow is **driving** rather than being integrated when:
You lose the ability to choose.
You begin harming people.
You require the experience in order to regulate yourself.
You rationalize behaviour you previously recognized as destructive.
You become increasingly controlled by appetite.
Toward Darkness — the Distinct Results
Spiritually disengaged and indifferent. Not deliberately harmful — simply not pursuing truth, growth, accountability or service in any meaningful way.
Wounds, fear, resentment, ego, compulsions, appetites or unconscious drives predominantly control behaviour. Not inherently evil and not demonic. Someone angry, sexually active, traumatized, sometimes selfish, mentally ill or struggling with addiction is not thereby demonic.
Consciousness heavily ruled by ego, superiority, entitlement, validation, control and self-interest — increasingly treating others as tools, possessions, threats or sources of admiration. An Akaric pattern description, never a clinical diagnosis.
Consciousness increasingly organized around domination, deception, cruelty, exploitation, corruption, destruction or enjoyment of another being's suffering — deliberate harm toward others, with no heart or empathy for them. A demonic-pattern result does not mean the person is literally a demon or possessed; it names behaviour Akari holds radically opposed to the Light. To be demonic in pattern is to have no heart for others. To be possessed and used as a host is another matter entirely — a doorway standing open.
Why the Dark Results Exist
If everyone is told they are some flavour of mystic, this is entertainment. If it can tell someone *your spirituality sounds impressive, but your behaviour is exploitative*, it is a mirror.
Akari does not teach that darkness is your permanent identity. A result of this kind indicates patterns strongly opposed to the Light. Recognition creates a choice: continue feeding them, or begin turning toward truth, accountability, compassion and self-mastery.
A Map, Not a Level
The right question was never "what spiritual level am I?" It is a set of **coordinates**. A Buddhist does not have to become Christian to score Christic qualities. A Christian does not have to call themselves Buddhist to show Buddhic nonattachment. A pneumatic is not automatically righteous. And someone who rejects the metaphysics entirely can still score profoundly Akaric through compassion, truth, self-mastery and service.
Traditions provide the names. Akari maps what those names are pointing toward without pretending they are all identical.
The Names Each Tradition Uses

Akari and Buddha
All Buddhas are Akari, but not all Akari are Buddhas.
Akari describes awakened alignment with the Light. Buddha describes a far more complete degree of awakening and liberation. The distinction matters: otherwise the moment someone is said to have awakened, they are accidentally being claimed as a Buddha — a threshold far too high for what Akari means. Someone can wake up and still have work to do.
This preserves Buddhism instead of absorbing it and renaming Buddha "Akari." Akari is the larger synthesis category; Buddha retains its specific Buddhist meaning.
What identifies an Akari
Belief cannot be the test. Saying "I believe in Akari" does not make someone Akari. Saying "I follow Jesus" does not make someone Light-aligned. Calling oneself Buddhist does not make someone enlightened. And someone who has never heard the word Akari may nevertheless be Akari.
Awareness + Alignment + Embodiment
They have awakened enough to recognize the difference between unconscious impulse and conscious choice. They deliberately orient themselves toward truth, compassion, courage, justice, love, self-mastery and service. And increasingly, their behavior demonstrates the alignment they claim.
The progression
Awakened → Akari → Integrated → Christic / Buddhic
Territories on the Consciousness Spectrum, read left to right for convenience. Not rungs — see “Not a Ladder” above.
Pneumatic — Awakened to Spirit
“I see that there is more than matter.”
Direct conscious recognition of Spirit. This is a real awakening and it is not yet a direction. A pneumatic can turn toward the Light or toward power, and the spectrum's dark side is full of awakened people who chose the second. Awakening tells us the eyes are open; it does not tell us where they are looking.
Akari — Illuminated and Aligned
“I see the Light, and I choose it.”
Akari is the illuminated soul: awakened to Spirit and consciously turned toward truth, compassion, courage, self-mastery, right action and service. Illumination is not a stage after Akari — it is what the word means. What an Akari has not necessarily done yet is integrate the shadow, master appetite and ego, or stabilize the realization; those are the work of the next territory.
Integrated / Ascended Akari — Mastery
“I have seen; now I master what I am.”
The Integrated Akari has faced and absorbed significant shadow rather than repressing it. The Ascended Akari has passed through a transformation that fundamentally altered consciousness and the relationship with the Divine. Either way the realization has become increasingly ordinary and embodied — carried into work, family, conflict and appetite. Christ and Buddha are two extraordinary outcomes of this maturity, not two rungs above it.
Christ Consciousness — Enlightenment Turned Toward Service
“I have found the Light; now I become a light for others.”
Christ Consciousness is not merely understanding unity with God. It is embodying divine consciousness while remaining engaged with suffering beings. The person could withdraw, but instead descends into suffering to lift others. Jesus is the archetype: awakening, union, sacrifice, service, descent, resurrection, return for others. This resembles the Bodhisattva ideal more closely than the Nirvana endpoint — liberation is not treated as something to possess privately. Compassion becomes active and sacrificial.
Buddha — Liberated Consciousness
“There is no longer anything here that binds me.”
Buddhist cosmology contains many heavens and deva realms, and Nirvana is not their highest heaven. Nirvana is liberation from samsara itself. Within Akari cosmology the heavens are higher realms within conditioned existence; Nirvana is liberation beyond the cycle of conditioned existence. The Buddha does not merely ascend higher through the heavens. Buddhahood transcends the ladder.
The relationship
- ✦Every true Buddha is Akari.
- ✦Every true embodiment of Christ Consciousness is Akari.
- ✦Not every Akari is either.
- ✦A Buddha need not first pass through Christ Consciousness; Christ Consciousness is defined by a particular incarnational, service-bound orientation, not by power level.
- ✦Buddhahood is not the mandatory destination of every Akari. Akaric synthesis holds multiple legitimate expressions of perfected alignment — a Buddha, a Christ-like saint, a realized yogi — without making them doctrinally identical.
The Christic path
Realization → Embodiment → Service → Sacrifice → Lifts others
The Buddhic path
Realization → Complete liberation → Nirvana → Transcendence of samsara
The pneumatic wakes up.
The Akari chooses the Light.
The integrated soul masters itself.
The Christic soul returns for others.
The Bodhisattva refuses to leave others behind.
The Buddha is free.
Each ancient concept keeps its dignity. Akari does not flatten them into synonyms.
Akaric Lexicon · The Inverse Scale
The Descent
Not the absence of shame. The absence of conscience.
The ascent scale has an inverse, and it is not a scale of guilt. The downward movement does not begin when a soul feels bad about itself. It begins when a soul stops feeling remorse, conscience or responsibility for destructive behaviour — and then starts identifying with it, and finally celebrating it.
This distinction is load-bearing, because the opposite teaching has done enormous harm. Shame, in its destructive form, says "I am inherently worthless" — and that is not spiritual progress; it is a wound. Many souls ascend precisely by healing it. What must not be released along with it is remorse, which is an entirely different faculty: the recognition that one has participated in darkness, made by a self that is not identical with the darkness.
Shame says: I am darkness. Remorse says: I have participated in darkness. Healing requires releasing the first without losing the second.
So the ten stages below are not degrees of shamefulness. They are degrees to which conscience has been overruled, and the ladder is descended by repetition and by choice — never by acknowledgment.
- 1
Remorse
“I did wrong.”The conscience still resists the darkness. This is the HIGHEST rung of the descent, not the lowest — a soul standing here has not fallen; it is exactly where repair begins.
- 2
Rationalization
“I had a reason.”Wrongdoing becomes excusable. The act is not denied; it is furnished with a justification, and the justification is usually true in part. That is what makes this rung so easy to stand on.
- 3
Desensitization
“It doesn't bother me anymore.”Repetition dulls conscience. Nothing new is decided here; the alarm simply stops sounding, and its silence is mistaken for peace.
- 4
Normalization
“This is just who people are.”Darkness stops appearing abnormal. The behaviour is now generalized onto humanity itself, which removes the need for any personal reckoning.
- 5
Indulgence
“I know it's wrong, but I want it.”Appetite overrides conscience openly. This rung is honest and therefore still recoverable — the wrongness is admitted and chosen anyway.
- 6
Identification
“This is who I am.”THE HINGE OF THE WHOLE LADDER. The destructive tendency is incorporated into identity, and from here repentance feels like self-annihilation rather than release — which is precisely why the soul stops attempting it.
- 7
Glorification
“I'm proud of it.”What conscience once resisted becomes something celebrated. This is shamelessness without repentance, and it is the threshold Akari names as genuinely dangerous.
- 8
Domination
“Others should submit to my will.”The darkness turns outward and becomes controlling. Until now the harm was chiefly to the self; from here other souls are inside its radius.
- 9
Dehumanization
“Their suffering doesn't matter.”Other souls become objects, obstacles or tools. Every atrocity in the Chronicle passes through this rung, and it is reachable by ordinary people through ordinary arithmetic.
- 10
Spiritual Ruin
“Darkness feels like light.”Conscience has been rejected so repeatedly that inversion is experienced as reality: cruelty feels justified, and domination feels righteous. This is Shadara from the inside — not evil recognized as evil, but evil experienced as good.
What actually makes a Soul heavy
- ✦THE SOUL IS NOT MADE HEAVY BY ACKNOWLEDGING ITS SHADOW. Acknowledgment is how the shadow gets integrated — it is the mechanism of ascent, not of descent.
- ✦IT BECOMES HEAVIER BY REPEATEDLY CHOOSING THE SHADOW, EXCUSING IT, IDENTIFYING WITH IT, AND FINALLY CALLING IT GOOD. Four movements, and the fourth is the ruin.
- ✦TOXIC SHAME IS NOT PURITY. Akari does not teach that the more ashamed a soul is, the more spiritually pure it is. A soul can ascend precisely by overcoming shame, and healing it removes nothing that conscience needs.
- ✦THE DANGEROUS THRESHOLD IS SHAMELESSNESS WITHOUT REPENTANCE: I know this harms others, I do not care, and eventually I am proud of not caring.
- ✦THE LADDER IS DESCENDED BY REPETITION, AND CLIMBED BY RECOGNITION. Remorse is rung one — which means the return is always available from any rung, and always begins the same way.
This is the inverse of the ascent scale and it inverts cleanly: the ascent begins with awareness and matures into service; the descent begins with the refusal of awareness and matures into the use of other souls.
Tier 1
States of Consciousness
Conditions, orientations and qualities. A state is something a soul is in, not something a soul is.
Awakening
The process of becoming conscious of deeper spiritual reality, self, alignment and consequence. Awakening is an event and a process. It is not enlightenment.
Akaric
A state, influence, action or being characterized by love, peace, kindness, wholeness, empathy, healing, or deliberate movement toward the Light; pertaining to Akari, Akari teaching, or Light-aligned principles. A person, act, teaching, civilization, principle, alignment or path can be described as Akaric. Akaric does not mean perfect.
Christ Consciousness
A state of radical alignment with divine love, truth, sacrifice, mercy, courage, unity with God, and service to others. It is not merely understanding unity with God; it is embodying divine consciousness while remaining engaged with suffering beings. Jesus — Yeshua — is its supreme Christic embodiment.
Christic
Exhibiting qualities associated with Christ Consciousness. Broader than identifying as Christian.
Buddhahood
The state or realization associated with a Buddha: liberation from ignorance, craving, attachment and delusion. A far higher threshold than ordinary awakening.
Enlightenment
Realization — awakening matured into deep clarity, self-mastery and freedom. Enlightenment is not the same as awakening; awakening begins the path, enlightenment realizes it.
Light-Aligned
Oriented toward truth, love, justice, wisdom, freedom, compassion and integration.
Misaligned
Acting against the Light through ignorance, fear, ego, appetite or distortion — not necessarily deliberate evil. Misalignment is not evil.
Dark-Aligned
Consciously oriented toward domination, deception, cruelty, exploitation or destruction. Stronger than misaligned: the orientation is chosen.
Adversarial
Aligned with forces that oppose spiritual awakening and freely chosen alignment through deception, coercion, domination or corruption.
Demonic
A state, influence, action or being characterized by domination, deception, cruelty, corruption, parasitism, destruction, or deliberate movement away from the Light. Demonic behavior does not by itself mean demon possession.
Shadow
The hidden, rejected, wounded, instinctive or unconscious portions of the human psyche. The shadow is not automatically evil, and a shadow is not a demon.
Integration
Bringing unconscious, wounded, instinctive and higher aspects of the self into conscious relationship and ordered wholeness.
Mastery
The ability to experience desire, emotion, ego, fear, power and shadow without becoming ruled by them.
Ascension
Movement into a higher spiritual condition through alignment and transformation. You arrive by becoming. Ascension is movement within the heavens; it is not Nirvana.
Liberation
Freedom from the forces that bind consciousness: ignorance, compulsion, attachment, fear, egoic illusion and destructive craving.
Holy / Sacred
Set apart through profound alignment with the Divine.
Moksha / Mukti
Hindu and Sikh release — liberation into union with the One. It sits beside Nirvana but is not identical: Moksha is release into God, Nirvana is release from the cycle. Both are Liberation; neither is the other.
Samadhi / Jhana
States of absorption reached in meditation. These are experiences, not attainments. A samadhi is not enlightenment, and mistaking one for the other is the most common error on the path.
Satori / Kensho
The Zen words for a moment of seeing and the stabilized realization that may follow it. Kensho is a glimpse; Satori is the glimpse held. Neither alone is Buddhahood.
Fana / Baqa
The Sufi pair: annihilation of the self in God, then subsistence in God — the self returned, but now living from the Divine rather than from itself. Islam's mystical account of what the Christic and Buddhic paths describe elsewhere.
Devekut / Bittul
The Jewish mystical pair: cleaving to God, and self-nullification before God. Judaism's own vocabulary for union without the dissolution of the person.
Wu Wei / De
Taoist alignment: action without forcing, and the virtue-power that flows from one so aligned. Wu wei is what alignment looks like from the outside — nothing strained, everything in accord.
Grace / Prasad / Rahma
Unearned help from above — God's mercy, the guru's gift, the compassion of the Merciful. Grace is the counterweight to karma in every tradition: consequence is real, and so is the hand that lifts. Grace is not permission.
Repentance / Teshuvah / Tawbah / Metanoia
The turn back. Judaism's return, Islam's turning, the Gospel's change of mind. Repentance is not guilt; it is reorientation — the moment misalignment becomes alignment again.
Ikigai
The Japanese word for a life worth living — the meeting point of what one loves, what one is good at, what the world needs, and what sustains. In Akaric terms, purpose found where alignment and service overlap.
Tier 2
Types of Souls & People
Human beings and the souls that animate them, named by condition and office rather than by religion.
Soul
The individual spiritual essence — the enduring conscious being. The Soul is not the ego or the personality.
Unawakened
A soul living primarily from unconscious impulse, conditioning and appetite, not yet aware of the difference between impulse and choice.
Awakened Soul
One who has crossed from primarily unconscious living into conscious spiritual awareness. Awakening alone does not guarantee goodness or mastery.
Akari
A soul awakened to the Light who freely chooses to align with it and increasingly embodies that alignment — truth, compassion, courage, self-mastery, service and right action. An Akari is not necessarily an enlightened master. An Akari can still get angry, grieve, desire, make mistakes and fall temporarily out of alignment. They are awake enough to see the path and consciously walk it. Akari is not a religion somebody joins; it is a condition of the soul somebody becomes.
Illuminated / Realized Soul
An Akari whose awakening has matured into deep realization, clarity and self-mastery. The stage between Akari and Christ Consciousness: the realized soul masters itself before it is asked to carry others.
Enlightened Soul
A soul whose realization has ripened into liberation. Distinct from merely awakened.
Christic Soul
A realized soul that embodies Christ Consciousness — one who could withdraw but instead descends into suffering to lift others. Awakening, union, sacrifice, service, descent, resurrection, return for others.
Bodhisattva
One capable of liberation who remains oriented toward the liberation of all beings. The bridge that shows the Christic and Buddhic paths are not opposites — the awakened servant who refuses to leave others behind.
Buddha
An awakened being who has reached an exceptional degree of enlightenment and liberation from ignorance, craving, attachment and delusion. Buddha is not another word for a spiritual person, and a Buddha is not a deity. In Akaric terms every true Buddha is Akari, but not every Akari is a Buddha.
Seeker
One who has begun to look — not yet awakened, but turned toward the question.
Mystic
One who seeks and receives direct experience of the Divine.
Saint / Sage / Rishi
Culturally distinct names for highly developed spiritual people. Akari preserves each tradition's name rather than flattening them into one category.
Guru / Teacher
One entrusted with transmitting a path to others. A teaching office, not a guarantee of realization.
Prophet
A human messenger entrusted with divine truth, warning, correction or guidance. Not automatically an avatar, and not automatically an enlightened master.
Messenger
A broader category than prophet: someone tasked with carrying a teaching, warning, revelation or signal.
Shadow-Dominant
A person whose unintegrated drives, wounds, appetites, ego or fear have become the primary force directing behavior.
Misaligned Soul
A soul acting against the Light through ignorance, fear, ego, appetite or distortion, but not necessarily deliberately evil.
Fallen
One who once possessed greater alignment, knowledge, responsibility or station and consciously departed from it.
Possessed / Overtaken
Used cautiously and technically: a condition in which a hostile external influence has gained extraordinary control. Never applied casually to mental illness, addiction, anger or ordinary bad behavior.
Arhat
Buddhism's liberated one who has ended personal rebirth. Buddhism itself grades three: the Arhat is free, the Bodhisattva stays for others, the Buddha discovers the path unaided. All three are Akari; they are not the same attainment.
Jivanmukta
Hinduism's exact word for the one liberated while still living in the body. This is the Lexicon's Illuminated / Realized Soul under its own name.
Tzaddik / Wali / Sant / Sheng-ren
The righteous one (Judaism), the friend of God (Islam), the saint (Sikh and Bhakti India), the sage (China). Four traditions, one recognition: a human being through whom the Light is visibly at work. Each keeps its name.
Guru / Satguru
Sikhism's distinction: the human teacher who transmits, and the True Guru who is God alone. No human teacher is the Satguru. This line guards every tradition against the deified master.
Nabi / Rasul
Islam's distinction between the prophet, who carries divine warning and guidance, and the messenger, who carries a revealed book to a people. The Lexicon's Prophet / Messenger line stands on the same ground.
Apostle / Disciple
The one sent and the one following. A disciple learns from the teacher; an apostle is commissioned by the teacher. Sent is not the same as saved.
Imam / Mahdi
Islam's rightly guided leader, and the awaited one who restores justice before the end. Both are human offices. The Mahdi is not the Messiah and not Maitreya — the same office of restoration, remembered by different peoples, not necessarily the same person.
Saoshyant
Zoroastrianism's future benefactor who brings the final renovation. The earliest recorded form of the awaited restorer.
Shaman / Medicine Person
The indigenous office of the one who crosses between worlds on behalf of the people — healer, seer, intercessor. A real spiritual office, graded by conduct like every other.
Nephilim / Gibborim
The hybrid offspring of Fallen Watchers and human women, and the mighty ones descended from them. A physical bloodline class, not a species of demon: Nephilim are not demons, their dead spirits are. Because the Flood was localized, Nephilim ancestry can persist through surviving populations and descendants outside the judged region — which is how Og, the Rephaim, the Anakim and the Greek giant traditions stand without inventing spiritual respawning. BLOODLINE ≠ MORAL CORRUPTION: descent is a biological question, alignment is a spiritual one, and no ancestry makes a person demonic, less human or guilty. No modern ethnicity or family is identified as Nephilim by Akari — genetics has established no such lineage, and the canon tracks bloodlines only inside the sacred-history model the texts themselves supply.
Tier 3
Celestial & Spiritual Beings
Beings and divine offices. None of these is the Most High.
Avatar
A divine descent or embodiment through which the Divine acts directly in history. Far rarer and more specific than Akari. An avatar is not a prophet.
Christ / Messiah / Logos
Divine offices: the anointed one, the awaited deliverer, the Word through which creation is spoken. Offices held, not personalities invented.
Emanation
A direct outflow of the One into creation — an aspect of God made present, not a separate god.
Deva
A high celestial or luminous being operating within creation, but not the Most High. A deva is not an angel.
Angel
A divine messenger or servant aligned with God and the Light.
Archangel
An angel of governing rank, entrusted with command over orders and missions.
Watcher
A celestial intelligence assigned observational, governing or instructional roles; capable of alignment or rebellion depending on the specific being. A Watcher is not an angel and not a deva.
Planetary / Celestial Governor
A celestial administrator set over a sphere, people or age — an office of stewardship under the One.
Fallen Watcher
A Watcher who left assigned station and rebelled — the root of the Nephilim account.
Demon
A hostile disembodied spirit — paradigmatically the surviving spirit of a dead Nephilim, per the Enochic ruling Akari adopts. An external, parasitic intelligence, never a person's psychological shadow. Demon ≠ jinn ≠ Fallen Watcher ≠ human ghost ≠ shadow: a wicked human Soul does not become a demon, a jinn is its own order, and the Fallen Watchers are bound, not roaming.
Giant Spirit
The postmortem spirit of a Nephilim. The Flood judged the bodies; the spirits persisted, and they are the paradigm case of what every tradition calls a demon. Ontologically different from their Watcher fathers.
Archdemon / Adversarial Ruler
A demonic intelligence of governing rank over lesser corruption.
The Adversary / the Accuser
A celestial OFFICE — opposition, accusation and testing before the Divine court. Legitimate in itself: the Soul is tested in the school, and something has to do the testing. Job's satan is the office before or apart from its corruption.
Satan / Iblīs
The created intelligence who occupied and corrupted the Accuser's office — turning testing into persecution, accusation into the standing lie that the Soul is worthless, and opposition into rebellion and domination. Satan and Iblīs are ONE BEING: Iblīs the name, Satan the office he holds. Angra Mainyu, Māra, Apep, Set and Typhon are DIFFERENT BEINGS holding analogous offices in their own cosmologies. Not Saturn. Not a people. Not Yaldabaoth.
Yaldabaoth
A distinct fallen ruler whose dominion is Shadara, the inverted realm. Not YHWH, not Satan/Iblīs — a lesser usurping intelligence claiming Source-status within the realm of inversion. The Gnostics saw the architecture of Shadara and mistook it for the architecture of Creation.
Jinn
Free-willed beings of smokeless fire, capable of alignment or corruption — neither angel nor demon by nature.
Spirit
A disembodied intelligence of any kind; the word names the mode of existence, not the alignment.
Ancestor
A departed human soul honored by the living. Not a deity, not a demon.
Ghost / Disembodied Soul
A human soul lingering unresolved between death and the door.
Asura
A rival celestial order — beings of power who contend with the devas. Asuras are not inherently evil and an asura is not a demon; some asuras are righteous, some devas fall. Alignment is judged by conduct, not by order.
Archon
The Gnostic rulers set over the material world. Akari rules: the Archons name real adversarial governors, but the Gnostic conclusion that creation itself is their prison is rejected. The world is God's; the Archons are trespassers in it.
Elohim / Bene Elohim
The Hebrew word for God, also used for the gods and the sons of God. Elohim names the Most High when it takes singular verbs, and the celestial council when it takes plural ones. The word is not proof that the One is many.
Anunnaki / Neteru / Olympians / Aesir
The pantheon gods of Sumer, Egypt, Greece and the North — celestial administrators remembered by culture. They are real orders of being, graded individually in the Concordance, and not every culture's gods are the same individuals. None of them is the Most High.
Igigi / Apkallu / Naga
Lesser Mesopotamian celestials, the seven sages who taught before the Flood, and the serpent beings of Indian memory. Named here so that they are not confused with angels, demons or aliens.
Holy Spirit / Shekhinah / Shakti / Ruach
The divine presence family: God's Spirit, God's dwelling presence, God's active power, God's breath. Not four beings and not an angel — the One made present and active in creation, under the names each tradition gave it.
Tier 4
Cosmology, Time & Afterlife
The realms, the cycles and the states after death. Here Nirvana ≠ Heaven is actually tested.
Samsara
The cycle of birth, death and rebirth under the conditions of ignorance and craving. The heavens are inside it. Nirvana is release from it.
Reincarnation
The Soul's return into a new body under the law of karma. Reincarnation is not resurrection: reincarnation is the Soul returning to school; resurrection is the person restored whole.
Resurrection
The restoration of the whole person — Soul and renewed body — into the life to come. The Abrahamic hope. It answers a different question than reincarnation and does not cancel it.
Bardo / Barzakh
The intermediate state between death and what follows — Tibet's passage of visions, Islam's barrier-realm of waiting. Two names for the same corridor.
Purification
The cleansing of what the Soul carries before it can ascend — purgatory, the fire that refines, the bardo that reveals. Purification is not punishment; it is preparation.
Sheol / Gehenna / Jahannam / Naraka
The Hebrew grave, the Jewish and Gospel place of burning, the Islamic fire, the Hindu and Buddhist hells. Hells are real states of consequence; in Akaric ruling they purify and correct, and none is beyond the reach of God.
Duat
Egypt's night-realm of the dead, through which the Soul travels and is weighed. The oldest full map of the corridor.
Heaven(s) / Svarga / Jannah / Devachan
The higher realms within conditioned existence — reward, rest, and nearness to God. The heavens are real and many, and they are still inside creation. Heaven is not Nirvana.
Pure Land
Mahayana Buddhism's realm of a Buddha where awakening is easy. A heaven built for liberation — a bridge between the heavens and Nirvana.
Nirvana / Parinirvana
Liberation from samsara — and the final passing of a liberated one out of conditioned existence altogether. The Buddha realized Nirvana while living; Parinirvana is his leaving.
Yuga / Kalpa / Aeon / Olam
The words for the great ages: the Hindu age, the Hindu world-cycle, the Greek age, the Hebrew world-to-come. The Timeline runs on these; they are cycles of consciousness, not merely of years.
Tier 5
Moral & Inner Vocabulary
The diagnoses and the cure. Every tradition names the wound and the way back; the names differ, the anatomy does not.
Dharma / Dhamma / Tao / Ma'at / Asha / Torah
The right-order word in six traditions: the law of one's being, the Buddha's teaching, the Way, the Egyptian order and truth, the Zoroastrian truth, the Hebrew instruction. Six names for alignment with the way things are meant to be.
Sin / Karma / Avidya / Druj
Four diagnoses of the wound: missing the mark, consequence carried forward, ignorance of what is, the Lie itself. They are not rival theories. Sin is the act, karma is its weight, avidya is its root, druj is its author.
Maya
The veil — the world experienced as separate, solid and final. Maya is not that the world is unreal; it is that the world is misread. Awakening is the reading corrected.
Haumai / Nafs
Sikhism's self-centeredness and Sufism's lower self — the tradition-specific words for what the Lexicon calls ego and shadow. Both are to be mastered, not destroyed.
Attachment / Craving
Holding as if the held thing were the source. Desire is human; attachment is desire that has become a master.
Corruption
Alignment turned deliberately — the Light known and then used against itself. Worse than ignorance, because it is chosen.
Faith / Belief
Faith is trust that acts; belief is agreement with a statement. Faith is not belief. A person may believe every doctrine and trust nothing; another may trust God entirely and hold few doctrines.
Religion / Path
Religion is the shared house — its texts, rituals, community. The path is the walk itself. Religion is not the path; it is where many paths are kept. Akari classifies the walk, not the house.
The Fruit-Test
Akari's evidentiary standard: every claim, being, teaching and office is graded by what it produces — love, truth, freedom, healing, or domination, deception, cruelty, ruin. Akari's own claims are held to it.

- Cycle of Heaven
The rows are the same anatomy under different names. The names are kept because each tradition saw the thing from where it stood, and the seeing is part of the truth. Akari does not replace the names; it shows that they are naming one reality.
The families
Terms Kept in Their Own Family
States, alignments, offices, beings and destinations are different kinds of thing. Mixing them is how Buddha, demon, Akari, avatar and Christ Consciousness get read as one category.
