The Way of Right Relationship
Confucius, teaching in 6th-century BCE China, focused less on the nature of the divine and more on how to live rightly with one another — filial piety, respect for elders, sincerity, and the cultivation of virtue (ren) within family and society.
The Golden Rule, East and West
'Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire' — Confucius stated the Golden Rule centuries before it appeared in the traditions of the Mediterranean and Middle East, pointing to a moral law written into every culture that ever searched for it.
Order as a Form of Harmony with Heaven
Confucianism holds that a well-ordered family and society reflect the order of Heaven (Tian) itself — earthly harmony as an echo of a higher one. It complements Taoism's more mystical vision of the same civilization, giving that vision a practical, social shape.
